Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Under the ACL, you are entitled to:
- A replacement or refund for a major failure.
- Compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
- A repair or replacement if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
If the failure does not amount to a major failure, we are entitled to choose whether we provide a repair, replacement, or refund.
If you are seeking compensation for loss or damage, you will need to provide documentary evidence, such as:
- Photographs
- Receipts
- Statutory declarations
- Reports (for example, from a medical professional if applicable)
You may also have additional non-excludable rights under similar provisions of relevant state legislation.

Our Limited Warranty on Cat® Tools
In addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law, we offer a limited warranty against defects for Cat® tools purchased and supplied within Australia.
Standard Warranty Periods
- 3-Year Warranty
Applies to all Cat® AC (electrical) and DC (cordless) tools from the date of purchase.
(Excludes accessories and consumables.) - 2-Year Warranty
Applies to all battery packs and chargers.
If your Cat® tool becomes defective due to faulty materials or workmanship within the applicable warranty period (and you can provide proof of purchase), we will, at our option:
- Repair defective parts free of charge
- Repair the product free of charge
- Replace the product with a new, similar, or reconditioned product free of charge

Extend Your Warranty to 5 Years (Cordless Tools Only)
We offer an extended warranty for Cat® DC (cordless) tools, increasing coverage from 3 years to 5 years from the date of purchase.
How to Qualify
To activate the extended warranty:
- Register your tool within 60 days of purchase at:
https://au.catpowertools.com - Keep your proof of purchase.
- Ensure repairs are carried out by an authorised Cat® service centre.
Please note:
- The extended warranty applies only to DC tools.
- It does not apply to AC tools, battery packs, or chargers.
- If registration is not completed within 60 days, the extended warranty may not apply.

What Is Not Covered by the Manufacturer’s Warranty
While our warranty is comprehensive, it does not cover damage or defects resulting from:
- Natural wear and tear (e.g. cables, blades, belts, filters, carbon brushes, holders)
- Improper use, misuse, neglect, accident, or operator error
- Overheating, overloading, or mechanical stress
- Electrical storm damage or incorrect power supply
- Failure to follow maintenance schedules in the operating manual
- Cleaning with chemically aggressive or corrosive liquids
- Repairs carried out by non-authorised service centres
- Use of non-genuine or non-approved spare parts
- Alteration, modification, or tampering
- Serial numbers being removed, defaced, or altered
- Incorrect storage, mounting, or environmental conditions
- Inadequate site preparation
- Transportation costs associated with returning the tool for repair
- Services not related to an actual defect
If a product shows clear signs of overload (such as burnt insulation, deformation, or charring of components), this will not be covered under warranty.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

Step 2: Provide Documentation
You will need:
- A valid proof of purchase (showing date and place of purchase)
- Your online registration document (if claiming under the 5-year extended DC warranty)
Step 3: Prepare the Tool
If you are required to return your tool:
- Ensure it is cleaned and free from debris or residue
- Pack it securely for transit
Please note:
- Any expense incurred in making a warranty claim is borne by you.
- We are not responsible for loss or damage during transit before the tool is received by us or an authorised service centre.
